THAT’S RIGHT, PEOPLE! M-FREAKIN’-VULA!
THESE GUYS HERE…HEAVYWEIGHTS, THROUGH AND THROUGH!
ENOUGH SAID!
THAT’S IT FOR THIS ARTICLE!
PEACE OUT!!
*DROPS MIC*

Okay, my editor says I can’t just leave it at that (Editor’s Note: You bet I did!). So…

Okay, let’s start from scratch. M’vula is a Nu Metal/Rap Rock band from Angola. They’re composed of Lil Jorge (Vocals), Paulo “The Teacher” Albuquerque (Lead Guitarist), Hugo “Red Kimba” Domingos (Bass & Guitar), Bruno “Mohabis” Braz (Bass & Guitar), Edson “Michel” Marques (Drums) and M.G. (Vocals). I did not know about this band until I saw the list of nominees for the Rock category in the ALL AFRICAN MUSIC AWARDS. Now, after seeing said list, I went ahead to sample the songs of each nominee. Good songs, all of them. I might not be inclined to agree that they are all rock songs but that’s not why we are here today. We are here because of this song:

VOLUME 10, YO!! PERFECT 10 KINDA STUFF!!

I hear this and nostalgia starts coursing through my veins. I haven’t heard music like this in a long time… well to be specific, I haven’t heard newly released rap-rock/nu-metal in a long time. This song tells you all you need to know about the band. It gave me this Rammstein vibe but with a rap metal twist. In addition, it reminded me of Limp Bizkit when the scratching kicked in.

Now at this point, I got curious and decided to look for there Facebook page. I did a little surfing and ran into this:

(Personally, I think this video speaks for itself and all that but this is an article after all so…) According to what was displayed in the video, It’s M’vula performing their song “O SER,” live. And it’s WICKED SICK! (In a rockin’, head-bangin’ way. Not a disturbing-images-type way)

The raw energy of that performance! The good quality of the video capture. I don’t know who recorded it but I would like to. The instruments were clear. No excessive echoes. It was like I was there witnessing the performance, myself. This time it feels like RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINES, but with harsher vocals. The song rocks hard. Distortions are not too thick, with just the right amount of heavy. So heavy, even the metal elitists will acknowledge their skill *looking at AxlPif <_<*.

And at this point of this articles creation, I got to talk with “THE TEACHER,” the bands’ lead guitarist and founding member, Paulo Albuquerque:

Sam of AudioInferno: What bands influenced your sound?

The Teacher of M’VULA:

Body Count / Rage Against the Machine / Charlie Brown Jr / Sepultura / Limp Bizkit / Metallica / Public Enemy / White Zombie

Man, someone needs to pick up the phone…..

BECAUSE I BLOODY CALLED IT!!!

Sure, I didn’t mention Body Count and Public Enemy but, whatever.

M'vula 4

M’vula is a band to be reckoned with. That much is true. They make good music. Good NU-METAL/RAP-ROCK, for that matter. To all the rap-rock fans out there reading this article now, I have one thing to say to you: “CHECK THEM OUT…!!”

Also remember when I said I got to talk to THE TEACHER? well, We had a VERY LONG TALK. And I tell you, these guys are some of the coolest dudes on the planet, yo. Don’t believe me? Come back later this week and see for yourselves.

Till then,
Peace ‘ut Humans.
