Sepultura is one of the few bands with no original member in its ranks, currently. The Cavalera brothers formed the band in 1984 with Max on guitars and Igor on drums. Wagner Lamouiner was on vocals and Paul Jr. on bass. The Cavalera brothers were inspired bigtime by Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Motörhead and Judas Priest. The NWOBHM played a key role in their early influence.
So now Sepultura being a Brazilian band , you might be wondering the meaning of the name ? It means ‘grave’, brutal ? The band has undergone a series of massive changes with Max Cavalera taking vocal duties after Lamouiner departed in 1985 (forming Sarcofago), sequentially departing in 1996 from the band then Igor Cavalera departed 10 years later.
The current line up consists of vocalist Derrick Green , guitarist Andreas Kisser , bassist Paulo Jr. and drummer Eloy Casagrande. Their dynamic style is noteworthy, with infusion of many genres such as industrial, groove, death, thrash and black metal. Never have I heard a jam with folk influence though. All the same good work from these Brazilians.
So Egypt would be receiving the thrash kings on June June 4th, Nader Sadek is one of the few individuals that makes sure metal doesn’t die in Egypt considering the limitations of the genre in the country. This will be the first time that Sepultura will be playing in Egypt and Nader Sadek has made that happen so Sepultura will be playing alongside with some Egyptian bands, Gorynov, Perpetual Ferocity, and Mephostophilis.
Nader Sadek is an Egyptian musician and also an artist who Mayhem (one of the pioneers of black metal) hired to do their stage design for their 2009 U.S Tour, during that time he sourced for contacts and now he is using it for it for a good cause making sure that metalheads and bands get to see their favorite bands. I would say this is just the beginning of Nader Sadek accomplishments and i am sure he has lots of plan for the Egyptian local scene.
The famous and the legendary Brazilian band ‘SELPUTURA’ will be playing at the Nile Country Club in Maadi on June 4th in Egypt so for all you Sepultura fans, get prepared and scream BLOODDY ROOOOTS, this guys are one of the bands that shaped my metal infancy. Sepultura 13th album would be released later in the year so follow them on their facebook page and also follow Nader Sadek on his facebook page.
