Kenyan Solo Act, Kanyeki Gets AFRIMA 3.0 Nominations.

kanyeki

Kanyeki is a Kenyan solo rock gospel artiste. He sings in his native language Kikuyu. Kanyeki has been in the Kenyan rock scene for long and he has been nominated for Best Artiste in African group along with 7 powerful nominees from Africa. Kanyeki has also made the rock scene in Kenya proud as his songs are mature, wiser, cleaner and relaxing. I don’t think any rock band/Artiste has ever been nominated for the group of Best Artiste/Duo/Group in African Rock. This makes Kanyeki to be first ever Solo Rock Act to be nominated for Best Artiste/Duo/Group in African Rock. Kanyeki was also nominated for the Best Male Inspirational category.

My music is a combination of hard rock with metal fused with traditional instrumentation, vocals being melodic and definite like with Kikuyu lyrics.

Audioinferno: Are your supporters in Kenya familiar with AFRIMA?

Initially they really were not, but now as a nominee the familiarity has exploded and it’s currently growing.

Metal isn't for everybody, it's for the chosen few. Most friends I have tell me they don't understand why I like metal, that it is too much noise. They just going to have to listen beyond the noise and the truth is they don't have to figure it out, it is either in you or it isn't. Metal is my morning coffee and it's my night sleeping pills...
